We would like to bring to your attention how the new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order effective from the 1st of October 2006, will affect you.

The new Regulatory Reform order (2005) is a complete modernisation, removing legislative overlap and consolidation of a great number of confusing pieces of legislation, including:
          1)       The Fire Precaution Act 1971
          2)       Workplace regulations 1977, as amended 1999
If you own a building or are the responsible person for any non-domestic premises, an employer or self-employed with business premises, a charity or voluntary organisation, a contractor with a degree of control over any premises or any place to which the public have access, then you need to act now as this new legislation will affect you.
As of the 1st of October 2006 by law every owner / occupier of any business premises is required to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment on their buildings.
Non - compliance to the current law may lead to prosecution, up to a £10,000 fine and may also lead to imprisonment.
