If you are an employer, occupier, landlord, responsible person or manage a building/premises which can have more than five people; then you have to have a documented Fire Risk Assessment by law; failure to provide this could result in a heavy fine and in some cases a prison sentence.
The basis of the risk assessment is the 5 point plan:-
1) Identify the hazard.
2) Identify the people at risk.
3) Evaluate, eliminate or reduce the risk.
4) Record, inform and train.
5) Review on a regular basis.
